BMA’s Call for GP Collective Action

Posted on:

Fernville is proud to support the British Medical Association (BMA) in encouraging GPs to work together to ask the Government for the funding and support needed to make sure patients get safe and proper care (collective action).

We understand that recent media coverage may have made you worry about getting an appointment with your GP.

However, please be assured that we are NOT going on strike, reducing your appointments, or making it harder to get your prescriptions.

Our practice will continue working as normal, providing the high-quality service you expect. Behind the scenes, we’re working to make sure GPs and practices are heard accross the country.

GPs Are on Your Side

The BMA’s campaign called “GPs are on your side” explains the serious problems GP practices face with not enough funding and too much demand, which is why it can sometimes be hard to get an appointment.

The campaign also talks about how this crisis affects everyone working in GP practices, from doctors to receptionists and other staff.

GP practices only get £107.57 per patient each year, no matter how much care the patient needs. That’s less than the cost of a TV licence. Basically, we receive just 30p a day for each patient registered with us – less than the price of an apple.

GPs want the same thing you do: good care and better support.

You can watch the BMA’s campaign video below.

Thanks so much for your support, we really appreciate it!
